We started our 11U season over Labor Day weekend in the USSSA Wood Bat NIT. Our Saturday games were at Martha Rivers Park and we charged into action knowing that these games would be low scoring affairs because of the wood bats we would be using. Game 1 was against Sherrills Ford Titans where T-Man took charge from the mound during the first 4 innings along with Husker then Lefty to close as we won 8-4. Game 2 was another low scoring affair as Bailey and XXL combined for the shutout in the 8-0 victory. This sent us into Sunday's championship round as the #1 seed and straight to a semi-final game. That game would be against the Piedmont Braves from Davie County who defeated the Weddington Nationals to get to play us. Bailey took absolute control from the mound as he threw a complete game no-hit shutout backed up by the errorless Copperhead defense. This sent us into the Championship game against the McDowell Mud Dogs from Marion at George Poston Park in Lowell. The wood bats certainly leveled the play, but our defense was flawless to team up with the tremendous pitching of Hubba and T-Man as we won our 4th Championship 4-2. Not only we did we win the championship, but won a paid berth into another Crystal Carolina Sports NIT this Fall. |
