Our boys entered their 2nd tournament of the Fall season this weekend, the USSSA Battle of Gastonia. Our first adversary of the Battle would be the Carolina Cobras from Lenoir. The mighty Copperhead artillery began firing with the defense performing perfectly for our 3rd shutout of the season with a 9-0 win. Our second game would find us matched against another team from our hometown, the Lincoln Lightning. The boys unleashed a barrage of rockets in this engagement as we brought home the win 22-2 in 3 innings. This sent us into Sunday as the #1 seed and would face the #2 seed from pool one, the Carolina Yankees from Concord. While a few fielding errors on our part stalled our attack early, the infantry moved in with a flanking maneuver to end this one early 15-5. This sent us to the Championship game to face the Cabarrus Bulldogs from Harrisburg. This was a tremendous conflict where both sides offered stiff resistence with solid pitching and hitting. The battle-hardened Copperhead warriors outlasted their foe with their strong will to win and brought home the gold again 5-4.
Our team has worked extremely hard this year and that has paid off with an 8-0 start to our 11U season with two championships under our belt. |
